New Mantra, Part 3

Here’s a number for you:

1 in 400 billion

That is the probability of you being born–your parents finding each other, your grandparents finding each other, your great-grandparents finding each other, and so on all through the history of time.

You are a miracle.

what are you going to do while you’re here?

How will you make your mark on the people around you and on your planet? How will make your one and only life special?

Have Direction

Having Direction was the very beginning of this mantra.

I woke up on January 1st of this year, I took a long look at my writing, my stories and my still-not-finished novel, and I decided right then and there that I needed direction. I felt I had all this energy, all this talent, and all this passion, and nothing was happening. I was spinning my wheels. Throw a Delorean in neutral and rev it to 88 miles per hour, and that’s what I felt like.

When you realize that being loving to people will help you to live in the world–and that whatever love you give, you get also get back–and when you start to be humble about what you have, then you can start to have direction in your life.

What is your dream? Your great wish? Your ultimate goal?

Have Direction!

This isn’t a mantra about finding who you are: you KNOW who you are. You can’t lie to yourself, not for long. When you do something that goes against the grain, we get confused, frustrated. I know that all of you out there will know what you want to do eventually because there is more opportunity right now today than there ever was to be what you want.

So what’s the problem?

There’s no direction in what we want. Or I should say, there are too many directions to go.

We are the most distracted people in human history.

For me, I need to be pursuing this little itty bitty blog of mine with more of a direction towards communication and my own writing skills. I need to be submitting my stories, I need to be editing older ones and producing new ones. I need to finish my first novel and start the second.

When you don’t have direction in your life, you waste time, effort, energy, and purpose.

You don’t have to be creative to have direction. Be the best person you can be, the best version of your name, of your personality, of your body, mind, and spirit.

You are a friggin miracle! Don’t waste your time and your life on being typical. Be Loving to others. Be Humble of your life. And Have Direction in those two things to be the best you can be.

This sounds cheesy doesn’t it?

This sounds sappy and touchy-feely.

We are too hard on ourselves. We spend more time than we’re conscious of comparing ourselves with fake people and fake news and fake profiles and fake lives from films, movies, shows, books, and songs–all of which are fake. We are perfectionists, we are self-critical, and we are hurting ourselves because of it. We say things to ourselves about ourselves that we wouldn’t say to our worst enemies. And we’ve gotten to a point where we can’t even bare to be positive, nice, loving, caring, and humble TO OUR OWN SELVES. Is it any wonder we have such short fuses? Is it any wonder we get so angry and frustrated at the most trivial things?

We must learn to be more positive, more loving to ourselves, and one way to do that is to expose ourselves to it.

Listen to this:

You are beautiful.

Do you feel that? It’s weird to hear it. What does it make you feel like? We’re not supposed to feel anything positive from that, but we do if we let it. After all, they’re just words. I don’t know you, I don’t even see you. But it’s true, nonetheless. Dig for it. Don’t let yourself get in the way of that.

But why is it so hard to know it, to believe it.

Listen to this one:

You are perfect the way you are.

Are you laughing? Of course you are. When I asked myself this, I laughed. But why? Why is it so hard to realize that we’re beautiful and we’re perfect the way we are?

Because we live in a culture that tells us different every single second of our lives.

Buy this, vote for that, like this, upload that, watch this, be that person, say these things, dress like this.

So dig for that positive image of yourself. Don’t let yourself get in the way.

Having Direction is more than just finding a purpose, it’s returning to what you are a human for; it’s means pursuing your own self through actions; it means being proud that you don’t line up into one of the dozen traits or kinds or labels that you are constantly exposing yourself to every single second of life; and it means taking stock of who you are so that when you take the necessary steps toward your goals and your calling and your life, you are prepared.

Having Direction is taking action for what is already deep inside of you.

BE that thing. But in order to BE, you must DO.

Have Direction. Whatever it is in life, be that thing.

Realize the miracle you are.

(P.s. I posted this video a couple of days ago, and it bears repeating because it’s such a fascinating and phenomenal study, so simple and yet so profound.)
