I Am Safe

I Am Safe

#day6 #10dayiamchallenge

I am safe. Not only am I safe in my neighborhood, in my city, in my apartment, but also with my friends and family. Most importantly, I’m safe with myself. Yes, there will sometime in my life be dangers all around me or will simply show to me dangerous people who are frustrated, angry, and frightened, and who could be violent toward me. But I am safe knowing that whatever physical, emotional, psychological, of spiritual harm they inflict on me, I will be better because I allow what truly hurts me. Time heals, bodies heal, hearts heal, spirits heal, God heals.

.

.

I am safe knowing this.

I am safe reminding myself that people’s actions and reactions to what I do and say and feel are just themselves reacting to themselves and not to me.

.

.

Now, I’m not condoning what people do. If you are in a bad relationship, you need to leave that. If you see bad people doing terrible things, say and do something. But when we realize that we are all suffering and reacting to our own demons and egos and projections, our pasts and our upbringings, we can begin to understand pity and suffering and how we must be compassionate and loving and forgiving. Especially to ourselves.

.

.

I do believe that everyone is suffering, that everyone is trying their best. And I am safe because of that—safe from whatever violence or fear or anger this world shows me. And I am safe from myself in judging myself too harshly, safe from the bouts of negative emotions that always come up in times of conflict or challenge.

.

.

I am safe for another reason too—safe from war, safe from poverty, safe from strife, safe from inhumane cruelty and violence. I live in safety of this and am grateful every day of my life that I am.

.

.

Be good today. Be grateful. Be safe.
